5 New Programs We Are Proud To Announce!

The school year is off and running! Our team is busy getting our recess and after school programs off the ground, getting sports clinics up and running, and speaking with new schools about all things King! With all that is going on, we wanted to share with you a few new things we have planned across NYC this fall and winter.

  1. Upper West Side Winter Break Camp – Over 150 families participated in our 1st Annual Upper West Side Summer Camp this year on W 70th St on NYC’s Upper West Side. Following that success, we decided to run a winter break camp around the holidays. Many families that don’t go away for the holidays look for child care options while school is off, and we decided to use the same location (School of the Blessed Sacrament) to host camp! The dates are Dec 21-23 and Dec 28-30 and days will be run similar to summer camp – sports, dance, music, yoga, arts & crafts, themed days, and so on. See you there!
  2. King Hoops NYC Elite training programWith the addition of Trevor Huffman, our newest Kids in the Game staff member, we’ve started our basketball training program in lower Manhattan. We’re in the process of firming up new locations on the Upper West Side and Park Slope to work with both boys and girls of all ages. The training program stresses skill development, sports performance, and uses advanced training techniques to help get our athletes to the next level.
  3. Upper West Side ‘Kids Night Out’ (and parents, too!) – Another new program for Kids in the Game, we are giving kids (and their parents) something to look forward on the first Saturday of each month! From 6:30pm-9:30pm, Kids in the Game will be hosting activities for the kids on W 70th St where we host our summer and break camps. While the kids are having a blast, hopefully parents can enjoy a nice night out in peace.
  4. Pre-K / K Sports & Fitness Program – We’ve realized over the past couple of years the need for early childhood sports and fitness programs, so we did something about it! Our team hit the drawing board and came up with a curriculum specifically for ages 2-5, emphasizing basic fundamentals and motor skills. They might have a few more years to go until they join the elite basketball training program we talked about above, but let’s start with the basics!
  5. Partnership-for-Inner-City-Education Volleyball Clinics – As we continue to grow our relationship with the Partnership Schools, we are proud to announce our upcoming volleyball clinics! The 5 week program will be hosted at St. Athanasius and will feature former college players and coaches running the clinics. The Partnership has been in the news as of late, due to the Pope speaking at Our Lady Queen of Angels, a school we work I n on a daily basis. Following the volleyball clinics, we will host another network-wide clinic series with basketball. Last year’s clinics attracted over 80 participants!

All of these programs are the result of things we hear NYC communities tell us they need! If your school or neighborhood could use something like this, shoot us an email at info@kidsinthegame.com and we’ll get it started. Happy Fall, everyone!
