The Kids in the Game internship program provides real world learning opportunities for students interested in gaining further experience in marketing, coaching, program development, finance and youth development.

WHO WE ARE

Kids in the Game is dedicated to developing New York City’s youth by providing opportunities through sports and fitness to the schools and communities we serve. Our goal is to develop the next generation of leaders by developing healthy habits, an active lifestyle, and promoting personal growth through play and competition. 

During the school year, Kids in the Game is rooted in dozens of schools around New York City, offering recess, after-school, physical education, early drop off fitness, creative movement and sports instruction.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an Executive Assistant Intern to support our Chief Program Officer in managing his schedule, responding to incoming/outgoing communications, and staying on top of ongoing projects related to our business operations and program management departments.

This position provides critical, day-to-day administrative support for an executive including – but not limited to – calendar management, office management, creating & updating documents, supporting with presentations, and communicating with a host of internal colleagues & external partners. The position resides within a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking, juggling and managing a number of tasks are critical to success.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is process-oriented and wants to grow into a full-fledged Executive Assistant.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to and collaborate with the Chief Program Officer (CPO)
  • Provide general support in a variety of tasks related to program management, business development, and client engagement
  • Coordinate with staff from other departments to manage company-wide projects
  • Function as liaison to marketing, finance, and people & culture departments
  • Organize and schedule meetings and appointments for the CPO
  • Prepare reports for the CPO and update internal information management systems, such as Hubspot and Asana, to track the status of ongoing projects
  • Create presentations to share information with the leadership team and manage communications with other departments to follow up on projects
  • Carry out administrative duties such as typing, copying, scanning, etc.
  • Maintain computer and manual filing systems
  • Answer phone calls and write letters/emails on behalf of the CPO
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Reply to email, telephone or face to face inquiries
  • Be accessible by phone, text, or computer at non-traditional hours

WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU

Our ideal intern would meet some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in an area related to child development, education, sports management, physical education; or possess a personal interest in these areas
  • Personal background in sports/athletics or experience with competitive sports would help you better understand our work, but is not required for this internship
  • Prior experience in an office assistant or administrative role where you managed an independent workload
  • Prior experience using Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Calendar) and MS Office products
  • Ability to learn new technology platforms to assist with collecting data and managing projects
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with coworkers, coaches, school faculty, and other partnering organizations
  • Demonstrate impeccable oral and written communication skills to draft emails, manage phone calls, and other written materials
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multitask and prioritize projects as needed
  • Be available to work Monday - Friday during the hours of 9am - 6pm (flexible scheduling is available based on your class schedule)
  • Be willing to travel around diverse areas of NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens) via public transportation

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Someone who is detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Has the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Possess and exhibit a strong and genuine interest in working with people and the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications.
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements; contacting recruiters, using newsgroups and job sites.
  • Determines applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants; analyzing responses; verifying references; comparing qualifications to job requirements.
  • Arranges group interviews by coordinating schedules
  • Evaluates applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers; interviewing applicants on consistent set of qualifications
  • Pre Screen calls for potential interviews
  • Assist the HR team with posting positions, sourcing resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial phone screenings.
  • Participate in college recruiting events to represent the company and identify potential candidates

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Marketing & Administrative intern will play a role in assisting with communicating with our families, schools, partners, and team members. He/she is a valuable part of the Marketing & Admin team, reporting to the Director of Marketing & Admin. Their core function is to assist the Marketing Director and Creative Marketing Manager in any way needed. Through family/school outreach, social media efforts, parent communication (via phones and email) and digital marketing efforts. As a piece of the role, the Marketing & Admin intern might be asked to work fairs, clinics, and other marketing events on weekends to help promote Kids in the Game programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating communications in the form of email, Mailchimp, newsletters, direct mail, flyers and others to build and maintain deep relationships with KING families
  • Engage in presentations with potential schools and partners interested in KING programs
  • Plan and participate in community events to engage families that may be interested in Kids in the Game programs, clinics, and camps
  • Develop and manage projects related to social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Medium, etc
  • Visit existing programs to take photographs, videos, etc for creative marketing materials
  • Assist with backend registration and payments for school programs and camp
  • Produce reports, analyze, and present findings on the status of ongoing marketing campaigns

Our ideal candidate would meet some or all of the following qualifications:
  • The Marketing & Admin intern must be able to work within a team environment and independently. He/she must have an entrepreneurial spirit and will be called upon to assist in solving problems for our families and go above and beyond to promote safety, fun, and a family spirit.
  • The Marketing & Admin intern is expected to communicate quickly and efficiently with direct manager and other leadership team members. Use of organization-wide communication channels and policies are required (Slack, Email, Google Calendar, others as assigned).
  • The Marketing & Admin interns are encouraged to pursue outside learning, formal training, conferences, networking events, and other professional growth opportunities.
