Art

Using creativity and mindfulness, we infuse intention into all our programming. Our curriculums have children learning across various art mediums and techniques across the the semester. We foster their inner spark and give them tools to further their emotional development. Each class is taught by a Teaching Artist and includes all art supplies.

Basketball

In our classes we will learn the foundational skills of basketball! We will teach them stationary ball handling drills to get them more comfortable with the ball, how to properly hold and shoot a basketball, and play small sided games to start re-enforcing our skills. The classes are taught in a non-competitive environment where the focus is learning, having fun, and becoming better athletes.

Coding

The Coding Space is an after school enrichment program where students learn to tackle challenges independently through learning to code. In our classrooms, students learn entirely through creating projects, allowing them to work on their critical thinking and problem solving skills while simultaneously picking up the hard skills of coding. By challenging students at their individual level to create projects as unique as they are, we underscore the power of personalized learning.

Fencing

For the littlest fencer, New Amsterdam Fencing Academy focuses, first and foremost, on developing a healthy child – while allowing them to run around brandishing foam swords. This weekly class helps kids in Kindergarten to 2nd grade improve their balance, hand-eye coordination, and mindfulness through games and challenges. That involve swords. They like that.

Fencers in 3rd and 5th grade engage in a group class that uses the building blocks of competitive fencing to emphasize the importance of working together while also fostering the child’s ability to think individually and critically starting from an early age. The development of hand-eye coordination, general fitness, and body movement begun at the previous level is age appropriately elevated here to fit the advanced abilities of older elementary school students.

Karate

Karate lies in the heart, not the hands. We believe Karate is not for fighting, but rather for character development. Physical fitness is a primary focus, followed by detailed subject matter to stimulate the mind. We work on our feelings and behaviors as they power our strong Karate Spirit. Our class aims to build fearless and compassionate students and equip them with tools that they can use outside of the classroom. Of course, students will learn to defend themselves physically, but more importantly they will learn to defend themselves emotionally as well. Students will learn the history of the art, basic self-defense, anti-bullying techniques, how to stop attacks, and more. We strive to make classes fun and jam-packed with a combination of both serious and playful activities.

KING Scientists

Our KING Scientists class is designed to spark curiosity and foster a love of learning in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Through hands-on experiments, engaging projects, and interactive learning sessions, we aim to kindle a passion for inquiry and problem-solving in young learners.

Marine Biology

Grab a snorkel as we dive into the oceans to learn all about Marine Biology! But beware – there is a hidden world lurking beneath the surface! From coral reefs to sharks that “sleep,” our budding sea scientists explore the unique, the strange, and the perplexing features of underwater life. What do jellyfish eat? How do fish breathe? What are the migration patterns for dolphins? Exciting projects ranging from turtle shell backpacks to octopus sock puppets (socktopus!) keep our mini-Marine Biologists creating and learning.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton & ping-pong. Pickleball is fun, social and friendly! The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game.

Rocket Science: Destination Mars!

Join our flight crew as we blast off to Mars! This exciting camp delves into orbital rockets and how they are fueling our quest to explore other worlds. Mission preparation begins by building miniature launch vehicles and conducting experiments to examine the science behind space travel. Next, we countdown to launch and learn all about the long trip to Mars and its effect on humans. The journey continues with a touchdown on the red planet where we establish a colony, build a rover, and orbit a satellite to explore the Martian landscape. From the basics of Newton’s Laws to solid and liquid propellants, campers learn what it takes to be real rocket scientists! It’s sure to be an experience that’s out of this world!

Soccer

Our main focus is to provide a safe and fun learning environment in which every child is able to leave a better soccer player than they came in. The clinics will be organized in a progression from basic dribbling and passing skills, to more advanced defensive and offensive skills. Your child will have ample opportunities to learn new skills, as well as improve upon their current skills. All participants will learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and what it means to be a part of KING.

The Amazing Science of the Human Body: Inside the Human Body

Welcome to the captivating world of K-2 science, where future biologists, chemists, and doctors embark on a fascinating journey to explore the intricacies of the human body. In this engaging class, young scientists will discover the wonders of anatomy through interactive activities and hands-on experiments. From understanding the five senses to exploring the functions of vital organs, these budding scholars will unlock the mysteries of their own bodies, fostering a lifelong curiosity about the amazing science of humans. This K-2 science class sets the stage for a lifelong interest in biology and the incredible machine that is the human body.

Weird Science TV

The Cinemakidz after school program is a hands on maker experience designed to provide children with the opportunity to explore the art of film and animation. An afternoon with us opens up opportunities to build, create, act, design props, explore storytelling, utilize technology, and most importantly express oneself creatively. Included in our program are the basic tenants of STEM: planning, exploring options, making repairs, and finishing your work, while fostering self-reliance, problem solving, confidence and creativity.

Yoga & Meditation

Students will practice different yoga poses, building strength, flexibility, and balance while learning about the importance of physical activity. They will also learn to meditate, practicing breathing techniques emotional resilience, stress management, and mindfulness.
